Sea freight services from Ho Chi Minh City to West Africa

West Africa is a vast region with many different countries. Shipping is often more complex and requires an understanding of the procedures in each country.

Main method: Sea freight, usually via major transshipment ports in other regions or direct connections from Vietnam. Crossing the Indian Ocean and then around the Cape of Good Hope (South Africa) to reach West Africa.

Shipping time (from Vietnam): Approximately 35 to 55 days depending on the destination.

     Main ports and countries:

    • Apapa & Tin Can (Lagos, Nigeria): The largest and busiest port in West Africa, often experiencing congestion.

    • Tema (Ghana): An important port in Ghana, with relatively clear procedures.

    • Dakar (Senegal), Lome (Togo), Cotonou (Benin), Douala (Cameroon).

    • Abidjan (Ivory Coast/Cote d'Ivoire): An important logistics center, serving both domestic and international countries.

     Specific Procedures:

    • A Cargo Tracking Note (CTN/ECTN) is mandatory: Most West African countries require this electronic certificate. Failure to provide a CTN will result in significant penalties.

    • Customs procedures in West Africa are often more complex and may involve higher local costs compared to South Africa.
